Shahar Lion

Shahar has worked with pregnant women and their families in New York City for over a decade. Shahar’s private and group classes are a blend of alignment, flow, and breath work that minimizes prenatal discomforts while increasing emotional and physical equilibrium. Women learn how to maintain control over their pregnant bodies and minds and develop stress-management skills to ensure a happy, healthy pregnancy, preparation for birth, and a smooth postpartum period. In addition to her yoga teaching, Shahar is a licensed psychotherapist and has made a valuable contribution to the birth community in New York City on the topics of movement, anxiety, body/mind connection, perinatal depression, relationships, and trauma. She holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University, postgraduate training in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy and she is certified Movement Analyst from the Laban Institute. In 2012, she was honored with the Faculty Development Award at Pratt Institute for her yoga and meditation teaching at Pratt Institute. Shahar is the co-founder of TrueThriver, a private psychotherapy practice in midtown Manhattan. For more information visit
